Environmental Education
Become familiar with science and environmental education teaching research base, resource materials, and professional organizations and be able to recognize and use appropriate criteria for selecting and using activities for science and environmental education instruction.

SW: Professional organizations, government agencies or state funded programs can offer field trip opportunities or resource materials, like lesson plans or special programs. A U.S. Travel "study found that, regardless of gender, ethnicity or socioeconomic status, youth who take educational trips have better grades (59 percent), higher graduation rates from high school (95 percent) and college (63 percent), and greater income (12 percent higher annually). In fact, 89 percent said educational trips had a positive, lasting impact on their education and career because the trips made them more engaged, intellectually curious and interested in and out of school." NW: Environmental education is nothing with out a real life connection for students. I teach in Syracuse, NY, all of these resources are in my community and have multiple programs for teachers and students to take part in. |
